Handling Employee Applications in the Engage Platform - Automations 

1. Automatic Filtering of Employee Applications

• The platform automatically excludes applications marked as EMPLOYEE or BOARD MEMBER with the "employee of lender" type from automation processing.

• This means no automated messages (SMS or other notifications) will be sent for these applications if the restrictions are properly configured.

• The filters rely on MeridianLink fields that indicate the applicant’s status as an employee or board member.

2. Manual Texting Restrictions

• Manual texting cannot be restricted at the user level or by journey in the platform.

• Only users who already have access to employee applications in MeridianLink will have conversations automatically created in Shastic.

• The system ensures that the extension creates conversations only for unrestricted applications.

3. User Permissions in MeridianLink

• If the MeridianLink automation user has restricted permissions, the automation will not send messages to employee applications.

• This is a key safeguard: MeridianLink user permissions govern what the Shastic platform can automate.

• For additional assurance, a custom report filter can be added to flag or double-check employee applications before any automation occurs.

Summary

• Automated messaging will not trigger for employee/board member applications.

• Manual texting cannot be restricted in the platform, but conversation creation is limited by MeridianLink access.

• Adding custom report filters provides extra assurance and auditing capabilities.

Key Notes for Each Step:

1. Application Submitted in MeridianLink

   • Application is entered into the loan origination system as usual.

2. Check Employee Status

   • System checks employee of lender or similar field.

   • Filters out EMPLOYEE and BOARD MEMBER applications from automation.

3. Employee / Board

   • No conversation is created in Shastic for these applications.

   • Manual texting can still be done by authorized users, but only if they have access to the application in MeridianLink.

4. Non-Employee

   • Conversation is automatically created in Shastic.

   • Automated SMS messages are sent according to configured workflows.
